Setup guide
Install PolyMind in five steps.
A clean walkthrough for loading the extension into your browser. Takes about a minute.
- 1
Download and unzip
Sign in to your account and click Download v1.1. You'll get a single file:
polymind-v1.1.zip
Unzip it anywhere — your Downloads folder is fine. Keep the folder around; Chrome will load it from wherever you put it.
- 2
Open your browser's extensions page
In your browser's address bar, navigate to the extensions page:
Chrome / Brave: chrome://extensions Edge: edge://extensions
Enable Developer mode (top-right toggle). New buttons will appear.
- 3
Load the extension
Click Load unpacked and select the folder you just unzipped (the one containing
manifest.json).PolyMind appears in your extensions list. Pin it to the toolbar for quick access.
- 4
Add your OpenRouter API key
Click the PolyMind toolbar icon to open settings. Paste your OpenRouter API key in the field. The key never leaves your browser — it's stored in the extension's local storage.
Don't have one? Grab a free key at openrouter.ai/keys. OpenRouter gives you access to every model from a single key.
- 5
Press Alt+Q⌥Q anywhere
Open any webpage. Hit:
AltOption+QThe PolyMind bar appears. Type your question, pick a model from the dropdown, and press Enter. The model can see the page text and (optionally) take a screenshot of the visible viewport.
Keyboard shortcuts
Global shortcuts work across the whole browser. In-page shortcuts are active while the overlay is open and can be rebound from Settings.
